hands sculpted

My aim is to invoke a sense of stillness, a snapshot in time of examination of bodily materials. The perceived baggage that abject materials hold (materials such as hair) shifts as the purity of materiality is contextualised by placing them with ceramic sculpture - held up between two fingers to examine the tension between the beautiful and the abject.

Dimensions 78mm tall, length variable
Medium low fired clay and a single strand of hair
